The need for a home is higher now, more than ever. The changing times made us stay in our houses longer than we use to. Our everyday living is now encapsulated in our residential spaces. Our reading nooks have become a place for virtual meetings. Our dens have become a spot for yoga exercises and Zumba classes. Our children’s playhouses have been replaced by study tables and chairs. Our homes have now become our workspaces, our gyms, and our children’s classrooms.
Today, more than ever, we need a home that maximizes functional spaces and includes smart features. We need a community designed to satisfy our changing lifestyle needs. We need a home where we can safely raise our family. We need a community where we can build meaningful relationships.
Luckily, I chance upon a pleasant neighborhood along FM 529, approximately about three miles off the Grand Parkway with these qualities.
Join me as I explore Katy Lakes – HistoryMaker Homes Community.

Today, I would like you to join me as I tour around a private and peaceful community off FM529, west of the Grand Parkway – Katy Lakes. Owned and developed by Mini-B, Inc., this 385-acre community is foreseen to have 900 homesites divided into 6-sections once completed.
Before I proceed, a disclaimer – I am not affiliated with Mini-B, Inc or any of the builders in Katy Lakes. All information is provided as a courtesy and is deemed reliable at the time of this video.
Now, going back to our topic. Katy Lakes’ construction began in 2018. CastleRock Communities and Gehan Homes were the first builders to construct homes in the neighborhood, followed by HistoryMaker Homes and Colina Homes.
You may not believe it, but there are more than 60 stunning home plans you can choose from. As of this video, the lot sizes available are 50 and 60 foot-wide options. Home sizes vary from 1,816 sq ft to 4,299 sq ft. of livable space. You can choose between a 1-story and 2-story single-family home with up to 8 bedrooms! You can opt for a waterfront home or a house in a cul-de-sac. The price range for the basic inclusions starts from the upper 200s to the mid 400s. HOA fee is $950 per year while the tax rate listed on the flyers is 3.65930 before homestead. But, like what I always say, it is better to check with the local tax authorities to get the most updated tax information.
I checked one of HistoryMaker’s model homes to have a glimpse of what it looks like on the inside.
Seeing that model home makes you want to live in Katy Lakes, right? Wait until you see the amenities they have to offer.
If you get bored staying at home, you don’t have to go far to have a good time. Just head to the community recreational center and have a dip in the Olympic size community pool. Let the kids have fun in the splash pad and children’s pool. Or let them frolic in the nearby community playground complete with different fun play structures for kids of all ages while you sit and relax in the pavilion. Residents with an active lifestyle can go for a jog or a walk within the neighborhood’s winding trails.
Katy Lakes is zoned to the A-rated Katy Independent School District known to provide an unparalleled learning experience. Pre-schoolers to 5th grade students can attend Catherine Bethke Elementary School located 5 miles south of the community. A few blocks away from Bethke is Stockdick Junior High School. A B-rated school for middle schoolers. Adjacent to Stockdick is Patricia Paetow High School, also a B-rated school for 9th to 12th grade students.
Need to do some errands? Head on towards the Katy Freeway where most groceries, shopping centers, restaurants, and recreational areas are located. Being in close proximity to the Grand Parkway, TX-99, US 290 and I-10 makes it easy to access major Houston employers, medical facilities, and entertainment centers.Before I conclude this neighborhood tour, I happen to get a chance to talk to some of the residents and this is what they have to say about living in Katy Lakes.
